About me

Life throws many difficulties and challenges at us which can lead to depression, anxiety (GAD) and stress each having an impact on our self esteem, resilience and physical body

I can help you achieve some of the benefits of counselling such as...

Reduce anxiety

Increase self-esteem and self-worth and learn how to say "No"

Help you with "what is wrong" or "not quite right"

Help you sort through the depression clouds

Understand and deal with “what if's" and worrying thoughts

Understand that feeling of sadness and gain a greater feeling of hopefulness about the future

Gain a greater sense of self awareness

Recognise, understand and work with your triggers or patterns of behaving

Take control of your anger

Work with the mind body connection

When words alone are not enough I can offer, out-of-the-box sessions tailored to your needs, helping you to make sense of thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Integrating creativity into counselling sessions can help clients to access deep emotions and express them in a powerful way.  As a qualified person centered creative counsellor we can use this really useful method to help you to heighten self-awareness as well as to resolve issues.    I can also offer creative counselling sessions via zoom which involves using mark making with pens, pencils or paint, or working with images, symbols and objects to explore issues.  You do not need to be artistic or have any experience of art or creativity at all. There will be no judgement or interpretation.

As an addition to my practice I have been offering offer walk and talk therapy (eco-therapy) for about 4 years now and this has proven to be a very effective form of therapy.  Creative methods of working outdoors can also be used.

I also work with clients dealing with physical and emotional pain & suffering, loss (of all kinds) grief and bereavement and also those living with CFS and/or Fibromyalgia and cancer.

The initial step is for you to call, text or send me an email to arrange an appointment.  You can even simply use the words  "appointment please" or "free initial chat please" along with details of days and times when you are available and I will get back to you with my availablity and details of what happens next.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an established qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and Creative Arts Facilitator using the person-centered approach and I am a registered member of the BACP, an accredited member of NCS and also a member of APCCA.

I predominantly work with clients struggling with anxiety, GAD, depression, grief, low self esteem and anger management and I have specific training to help you express how you feel when words fail.

I am a qualified Person Centered Creative Arts Counsellor and have a passion for working with this type of therapy. It can be a very powerful approach which is non judgmental and can quickly reach relational depth and unconscious material.   This Way of working (And you don’t need to be an artist) can be particularly useful If you are struggling to make sense of or express thoughts, feelings and experiences.   It is also really useful if you are interested in self-awareness and personal development (or a level 4 counselling diploma student).

I love working with the mind body connection and I am a qualified “Focuser” (level 5) and Mindful Practitioner.

I have level 2 awards for Counselling Skills and Mental Health in The Workplace and I also have level 3 awards for Counselling Theory, Anger Management Counselling and Counselling for Depression.

I have trained as a Bereavement Support Worker and I also qualified as a member of the Infant Loss Foundation to be able to provide counselling to those suffering from the loss of a child.

Sometimes Personal experience can be far greater than training and as a reflective practitioner I personally use counselling to deal with my own anxiety and depression experiences as well as for my cancer story. I have personally recovered from CFS and I am a Fibro warrior.

I also hold a practitioner level certificate in both Mindfulness Practice and Cognitive behavioural therapy and I have Diplomas in Pain Management and Creative Wellbeing Coaching.

I continue to have counselling and CPD which enhances my personal and professional growth.
