MA Integrative Psychotherapist | HCPC - Art Therapist

About me

Welcome. If you’re thinking about therapy or counselling and wondering whether it might help, the first step is a free 15-minute chat. It’s simply a chance to talk, ask your questions, and see whether we’d be a good fit. Send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible, normally within 24 hours.

Having someone to talk to can really help you feel better. A person to help you make sense of how you’re feeling. It can feel difficult to reach out and ask for help. That’s one of the reasons I decided to become a therapist myself. Previously I have worked as a professional photographer and in the construction industry so I understand the stresses of the world.

Over the years, I’ve worked with many people who felt that life wasn’t turning out the way they’d hoped. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, lost, or simply not like yourself. Whatever’s going on, we’ll take the time to explore it together — helping you understand yourself more deeply, feel more confident, and start moving toward the life you want.

Our sessions are relaxed, honest conversations in a professional but down-to-earth space. I like to balance reflection with warmth, humour, and real human connection — because therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy to be meaningful.

I’m a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist, registered with both the HCPC and BACP, and I offer both short-term and long-term therapy depending on your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a wealth of experience in helping individuals overcome various challenges. I am dedicated to providing personalized care and support, empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives.

In the NHS I work with addictions, PTSD, anxiety, depression, psychosis, agoraphobia and many other conditions, which gives me a broad knowledge base. I have worked with young and older adults, each wanting to improve their quality of life no matter what stage of it they are at.

  • 2024 MA Integrative Arts Psychotherapy
  • 2022 Diploma in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy
  • 2020 Postgraduate Certificate in the Therapeutic Arts
  • 1986 BA Hons Photography, film and video arts

My working life has been very diverse. I have been a photographer working in design and advertising, where I recognised the power of images to affect and move people. I also worked in the construction industry, redesigning and renovating homes and business premises. This has provided a broad and interesting lived experience of the world, which helps me to understand the mental distress of others. The desire to improve my own psychological situation led me to re-train as a therapist , while my arts background led me towards using art to further my understanding.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
