About me

Life can often feel fragmented or out of sync, especially when you are juggling the relentless demands of daily life or navigating complex family dynamics. Whether you are struggling with a long-standing sense of anxiety, depression, unresolved attachment patterns  or the unique challenges of ADHD and neurodivergence, I offer a grounded and professional space to help you find your own rhythm again. Together, we move past the noise of daily life to reconnect with what truly matters to you.

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with an MSc and over two decades of experience in supporting people through profound life transitions. My background in safeguarding and child protection social work, alongside specialist education, gives me a unique perspective on how our early environments shape us. Crucially, for the last 10 years, neuro-affirming practice hasn’t just been a clinical interest—it has been  a central part of my day-to-day work. I bring this intuitive understanding to our work, helping you move past years of 'fending for yourself.'

My approach is experiential and relational. We won’t just talk about your symptoms; we will work together to understand the physical and emotional 'felt sense' of how your brain works. By slowing things down and offering a deeply affirming presence, I help you move past surface-level exhaustion. This process is about gaining the intuitive confidence to stop performing for others and start leading a more balanced, authentic life that actually fits who you are."

Professional Accreditations & Standards

  • Certified Online and Phone Practitioner: Specialist training for the secure and effective delivery of remote therapy (Edge Hill University)

Clinical Experience & Professional History

  • My therapeutic practice is built on over 20 years of experience being alongside people during events of emotionally profound significance, across a range of professional roles. This extensive background ensures that even when we are exploring your most difficult or "avoided" feelings, you will be supported by an experienced, ethically robust, and safe therapist.
  • High-Complexity Safeguarding & Family Systems: I have extensive experience in Child Protection Social Work (including Local Authority settings in Blackburn and Hackney). This has provided me with a sophisticated, "unshockable" understanding of relational trauma, risk, and the way complex family systems shape our internal world.
  • Neuro-Affirming & Specialist Education: For the last 10 years, neuro-affirming practice has been central to my day-to-day work. Currently practicing within a Specialist Education setting, I draw on a deep, intuitive understanding of ADHD, Autism, and the profound exhaustion that comes from "masking" or fending for yourself in systems that don't fit your brain.
  • Emotional Regulation & Crisis Support: As an ex Team Teach Intermediate Trainer and Thrive Practitioner, I am highly skilled in neuro-sequential processing and de-escalation. I have helped people through deeply distressed emotional presentations, providing the stability needed to find calm.
  • Diverse Settings: My work has spanned the lifespan—working with adults, teens, and children—across Schools, Local Authorities, CAMHS, and NHS Talking Therapies and also in my independent practice. This gives me a 360-degree view of the "real world" pressures my clients face.
  • Ethical Oversight & Supervision: I maintain regular, specialised clinical supervision for both my Adult and Child/Young Person (CYP) work. This ensures my practice remains ethically grounded, experientially focused, and always aligned with the latest clinical standards and research.

Taking the First Step

I know that reaching out to a therapist can feel like a daunting task, especially if you have been struggling to make a choice or have felt judged by "experts" in the past. My aim is to make that first move as straightforward and low-pressure as possible.

Why a Phone Consultation Matters

Choosing a therapist can feel like a minefield. I offer a free initial consultation to help you simply get started. There is no pressure to commit; it’s just a chance to connect, ask questions about how I work, and see how it feels to talk. Even if you decide I am not the right fit, taking this first step is a vital part of your own journey.

A Grounded Perspective

I believe that therapy works best when it is built on a real, honest relationship. My experience in social care and schools and therapy have taught me that life doesn't always fit into neat boxes. No matter what has brought you here, I provide a space where you don't have to "perform" or have all the answers.

My practice is located in an accessible, private space in Ormskirk Lancashire with plenty of parking, providing a calm environment away from the busyness of daily life. I also offer the flexibility of online and telephone sessions if that better suits your circumstances.
