About me

About me
I’m Hannes, an Integrative Psychotherapist offering face to face therapy in Levenshulme, Manchester, with good transport links from Stockport and surrounding areas. I also offer online therapy across the UK.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or struggling to make sense of something in your life. Sometimes there is a clear difficulty such as relationship problems, loss, low mood, trauma, or anxiety. At other times, there may simply be a sense that something is not quite right.

I offer a confidential and non judgemental space where we can begin to explore what is going on for you, at your own pace. Together, we can look at your experiences, relationships, and patterns, and how they may be affecting your wellbeing, confidence, and day to day life.

Over time, therapy can bring greater clarity, help things feel more manageable, and support you in finding ways of living that feel more meaningful and more like your own.

Many people come to therapy feeling they have to carry things alone. I aim to offer a space where you can feel met with honesty, care, and curiosity.

How I work as an Integrative Psychotherapist
I see therapy as a collaborative conversation. I listen closely and may invite you to slow down at times, especially where something feels unclear or easy to move past. My aim is to offer a space that feels warm, respectful, and emotionally honest, where you can speak openly and feel taken seriously.

I work in an engaged and relational way. I may share reflections on how I understand what you are experiencing and how we relate together in the therapeutic space. This can help bring awareness to patterns in how you relate to others, as well as to yourself.

I aim to balance support with gentle challenge, helping you consider how your ways of coping may have developed and whether they are still working for you now.

What to expect from therapy
Sessions are a space to speak freely about thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may feel difficult to share elsewhere. As we talk, patterns can become clearer, new perspectives can emerge, and things that once felt overwhelming can begin to shift.

I do not offer fixed techniques or quick solutions. . I focus on helping you develop a deeper understanding of your experience, your relationships, and what matters to you.

For many people, having a space where they can be fully heard and received without judgement can support a greater sense of self acceptance, confidence, and integration.

Issues I work with
I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, identity and sexuality, loneliness, stress, and periods of uncertainty or transition.

I often work with people who feel emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about how they want to live.

For some people, distress is closely linked to experiences of discrimination, marginalisation, or feeling unseen or unsafe in the world. I am committed to anti racist and anti oppressive practice and take these experiences seriously within the work.

I also welcome LGBTQ+ clients and I am open to exploring how differences between us may shape the therapeutic relationship.

My approach
I work integratively, drawing from existential, psychodynamic, and humanistic traditions. I adapt how I work to each person rather than applying a fixed model.

Existential therapy informs much of my thinking. This approach is less focused on diagnosis or quick solutions, and more interested in questions around identity, freedom, uncertainty, relationships, meaning, and how we want to live. Together, we may explore not only the difficulties you are facing, but also the wider context of your life and what feels important to you.

The therapeutic relationship is central to my work. Paying attention to the relationship between us can help us notice patterns that may also appear in other areas of your life, while creating opportunities to try something different.

I tend to work well with people who are open to reflection and interested in understanding themselves more deeply. This can support meaningful and lasting change over time.

Therapy sessions
Sessions usually take place weekly and last 50 minutes.

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping for. It is also a chance for both of us to get a sense of whether working together feels right.

I offer both short term and open ended therapy, depending on your needs.

Sessions take place from my private therapy room in Levenshulme, Manchester, and I also work online with clients throughout the UK and internationally.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
