About me
Hi,
My name is Jody, and I am an integrative counsellor based in Rochdale and surrounding areas. Making the decision to begin or return to counselling can feel like a significant step, and finding the right counsellor is an important part of that journey.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, experiencing relationship difficulties, struggling with low mood, navigating loss or change, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I offer a warm, welcoming, and confidential space where you can talk openly without judgement.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that everyone’s experiences are unique. I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy, so I tailor our sessions to meet your individual needs, working collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you. Put simply, we will work in a way that you want.
My aim is to help you better understand yourself, explore difficult emotions, develop healthier coping strategies and move towards positive and lasting change. I place great importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel listened to, respected and supported throughout our work together.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, stress, depression, workplace stress and burnout, low self-esteem, confidence issues, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, trauma, anger, life transitions, men’s mental health and personal development.
I understand that taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you’ve never had therapy before. I aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable speaking openly without fear of judgement.
I offer flexible appointments, mostly evenings and weekends, with sessions available face-to-face, online or by telephone. I also offer a free call initially, allowing us to discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and decide whether we feel we are the right fit to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Level 5 Qualified Integrative Counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
Alongside my counselling qualification, I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and am committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD), ensuring my knowledge and skills continue to develop throughout my career.
I work in a trauma-informed way and receive regular clinical supervision to support safe, ethical and effective practice.
Outside of my counselling work, I have spent over 20 years working within a blue-chip international organisation, holding senior management and training positions. This experience has provided me with extensive knowledge of workplace wellbeing, leadership, organisational change, conflict resolution, communication, resilience and supporting people through periods of challenge and transition. For more than 10 years in this role, I have also mentored individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them build confidence, develop professionally and achieve meaningful personal and career goals.
In addition, I have over five years’ experience working within the voluntary and non-profit mental health sector, including supporting individuals experiencing emotional distress and crisis situations via Rochdale and District Mind’s crisis drop-in service.
I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider and currently serve as a Trustee and Board Member of a local charity, reflecting my commitment to supporting both individuals and the wider community.
I am fully insured and committed to maintaining high professional standards through ethical practice, regular supervision and continued learning.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I appreciate that choosing the right counsellor is an important decision. The relationship between counsellor and client is one of the strongest contributors to successful therapy, which is why I offer a complimentary introductory call. This gives us an opportunity to get to know one another, discuss your needs, and decide whether I am the right person to support you.
My other role has given me a genuine understanding of the pressures many people experience in modern life, including demanding careers, workplace stress, burnout, leadership responsibilities, balancing work and family life, redundancy, career change and personal development. This experience often enables me to connect particularly well with professionals, managers, business owners and those working in high-pressure environments.
Alongside counselling, I also offer mentoring and coaching for individuals seeking support with confidence, career development, leadership, personal growth or achieving specific goals. During our initial conversation, we can discuss which approach, or combination of approaches, may best meet your needs.
Above all, I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and understood. Whatever has brought you to counselling, I will work alongside you with empathy, honesty and respect to help you move towards greater wellbeing and a more fulfilling future. My unique experience (both life and employment) I feel makes me approach counselling slightly differently to most counsellors, meaning I can adapt to clients wishes on how would be best help and support them.
I have a full enhanced DBS Certification.
