About me
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may be experiencing anxiety, feeling stuck in familiar patterns, facing challenges in your relationships, or simply finding it hard to cope with everything that's on your shoulders.
I'm Jo, a BACP-registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering therapy for adults, couples and relationships in Margate, East London and online across the UK. My approach is warm, relational and grounded in Transactional Analysis, a humanistic form of psychotherapy that helps us understand how our experiences and relationships shape the way we think, feel and connect with others.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard and understood. Together, we'll explore what's happening for you at a pace that feels right, helping you to make sense of your experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Therapy is a collaborative process. As well as listening carefully to your experiences, I'll share observations, ask thoughtful questions and gently challenge patterns where it feels helpful. My aim is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, creating space for meaningful change.
Before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I spent over 20 years working as a teacher in inner London, supporting children and families through a wide range of challenges and life transitions. This experience continues to shape my compassionate, inclusive approach.
I welcome people from all backgrounds and offer an LGBTQIA+ affirming practice. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your relationship, I aim to provide a safe, supportive space where meaningful change can happen.
If you're considering therapy and would like to find out more, I offer a free 15-minute consultation and would be pleased to hear from you.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
