Counselling for Children and Young People (11-17)
A CYP (Children and Young People) counsellor offers mental health support tailored to the unique needs of children, teenagers, and young adults. They focus on helping young people navigate emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges, often related to issues such as:

  • Emotional difficulties: Helping children and young people manage feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, or frustration.
  • Mental health issues: Offering support for conditions like depression, anxiety, self-esteem struggles, and stress.
  • Relationship difficulties: Guiding children through family conflicts, bullying, peer pressure, or issues with friends and school.
  • Trauma and abuse: Assisting in healing from past trauma, whether it’s related to family issues, abuse, neglect, or loss.
  • Behavioral problems: Helping to manage anger, aggression, or other disruptive behaviors, often in the context of school or family life.
  • Life transitions: Supporting young people through challenging life changes such as moving house, changing schools, or going through puberty.

I work with a range of therapeutic techniques, such as talk therapy, play therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and other child-focused approaches to help them express their feelings, develop coping skills, and improve their emotional well-being. The aim is to provide a safe space where young people feel understood and supported.
