About me
Hello, I'm Jo and welcome to my page.
I am an experienced BACP Senior Accredited therapist and EMDR Consultant specialising in both traditional talking and EMDR therapy. My practice offers a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space for you to discuss what is troubling or overwhelming you. Through exploring the difficulties you face, we can then recognise and make sense of the issues you are experiencing and examine the choices needed to overcome them positively and confidently.
Whether it’s talking therapy or the EMDR approach you are seeking, my aim is to enable a deeper understanding of why you do or feel things, increase your self esteem and ultimately enable you to confidently live your life to the full.
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing
EMDR is a safe, evidence based approach, endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in healing trauma and reprogramming disturbing memories and experiences both past and present.
Traditional talking therapies rely heavily on ‘top-down processing’, which engages the prefrontal cortex - the thinking part of the brain - to analyse and verbalise trauma. However, trauma impacts deeper brain structures responsible for generating fear and anxiety which are less accessible through conversation alone. Research shows that EMDR successfully reduces activity in these parts of the brain, and experts believe that this process aids in helping a traumatic memory become ‘unstuck’, allowing a client to resign that memory to the past, thus lessening its grip on their present.
EMDR is a well-established, first-line therapy for PTSD and its sibling Complex PTSD, clinically proven in its effectiveness in treating traumatic triggers, depression, phobias, anxiety and deep seated negative core belief systems which impede everyday life. Similar to what happens spontaneously in REM or dream sleep where we naturally process our emotions, EMDR can aid in connecting new information with old disturbing memories to resolve current problems.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
