About me

What To Expect

I aim to provide a secure, committed and confidential environment in which you are seen and heard and can safely explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This includes any questions or concerns you may have about beginning therapy which can feel confusing and scary.

How Counselling Can Help

Should you choose for us to work together, my hope is this time, space and support may enable you to have an improved sense of wellbeing, to find positive ways forward, to feel empowered to rise to future opportunities and to live a personally fulfilling life.

How I Work

I am a Relational Integrative counsellor which means we would work collaboratively. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours at your own pace. I have personally found the therapeutic relationship to be extremely healing as it provides support to explore what you may feel unable to elsewhere. My belief is that being heard and accepted can help to deal with a range of emotional problems.

Being an 'Integrative' counsellor simply means I am trained in and draw upon a range of approaches to counselling and our work is tailored to suit your individual needs. The sessions are likely to be open-ended, or it may include goal-specific counselling which can be more short-term. This may include:

  • looking at thinking and behaviour patterns
  • managing difficult feelings
  • early developmental experiences
  • traumatic experiences
  • ways of relating with others and yourself.

Areas of Work

I also work for a mental health charity and have a broad range of experience, including but not limited to: trauma, abuse, relationship problems, infidelity, suicidal ideation, sexuality, anxiety, depression, existential questions, sexual issues, self-esteem, loneliness, addiction, neurodiversity, loss, bereavement, bullying, work difficulties and family issues.

Inclusive

I am compassionate and committed to ensuring my practice is an inclusive and respectful space for all; regardless of sexuality, gender identity, race, religion, age, body size or ability.

Initial Consultation

I offer an initial free 20 min consultation to talk through what you would like to achieve and to see if we could work together. Please get in touch by telephone or email.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their professional code of ethics and practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
