About me

My name is Jo, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor.

I wonder if you need a space to gently explore some difficult, confusing or overwhelming feelings, or are interested in improving your overall sense of wellbeing. I am a warm, genuine, and empathetic counsellor. I work with a focus on self-care and compassion, around the things that are important to you, allowing you space to process, reflect and gain some clarity and control, slow things down, and take a breath.

I offer thoughtful, collaborative, tailored support to those experiencing difficulties with, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, depression, loss, trauma, IVF, infertility and adoption, as well as a variety of other emotional and mental health difficulties. I also support individuals who have been impacted by challenging relationship dynamics, including experiences that may have left them feeling diminished, unsafe, or uncertain about themselves.

I have worked in the social care sector for over 25 years, having the privilege of working with many individuals across different fields and services.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, and I am a fully qualified and registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and existential approaches.

Together we’ll consider your goals, be guided by your needs, and review our work together to make sure you feel we are moving in the right direction for you, as well as at a pace that’s right for you.

My current availability offers online counselling or telephone counselling (UK-wide) Monday to Friday.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
