About me

As a relational, integrative counsellor, I will help you work through whatever issues you bring to our shared space, using the most appropriate therapeutic approach.  I recognise that what works for one person might not work for another, and no two people feel the same about what might appear to be a similar ‘thing’ on the outside.  After all, you are the expert on you.

You have taken the first step, by recognising that you need some help.  So now, by working together, I will help you see that you can change how you feel about yourself, your life, and your relationships.  Whatever you bring to our sessions, we can work towards the outcome you need, be it along the lines of clarity, self compassion and understanding - or a complete emotional overhaul.

You might feel you want to talk about something you’ve never spoken about before, or you might feel no-one understands why you’re not ‘moving on’ after a death or other loss.  It might be something seemingly more vague - are you wondering why your partner no longer listens to you, or why you suddenly hate Monday mornings?

Regular reviews will ensure we are heading along the right path, and we can alter our approach at any time.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University.

I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space in my ‘Horsforth haven’ room or online.  My practice is called Elpis Therapy - indicating something we all want at times of emotional need: ‘hope’.

I have helped people cope who have been bereaved by illness and suicide, who have been affected by self harm and eating issues, who have lived through childhood sexual abuse and trauma, and who are experiencing anxiety, work stress and relationship difficulties.  In addition, I am proud to be a Dementia Friend.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
