About me
I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist working in private practice, with specialist training in couples therapy through Relate and advanced practice in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I offer compassionate, evidence-based support to individuals and couples navigating emotional, relational, and psychological challenges.
My practice is inclusive and trauma-informed, grounded in respect for each client’s lived experience and identity. I work collaboratively to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, empowered, and supported in their healing and growth.
I support clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. My approach integrates EFT principles to help clients explore and transform emotional experiences, and relational frameworks to support couples in building deeper connection and resilience.
I am registered with the BACP, ICEEFT and BEFT plus I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, and maintain full professional indemnity insurance. I welcome referrals from private medical insurers and work collaboratively with referring professionals to ensure continuity of care.
I am temporarily only working online. In the future I again will offer sessions face-to-face (indoors and outdoors) and remotely, based in Bakewell and Matlock in Derbyshire and Sheffield in South Yorkshire. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in supervision and training to enhance my practice.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, which focused on Integrative approaches from a relational standpoint. Since then I have qualified as a Relate couple counsellor and I am expanding that as a qualified Emotion Focused Therapy practitioner.
I have a wealth of life experience we can draw upon in our work together. I understand from my professional career prior to qualifying as a counsellor that the interplay between work and relationship stresses can often cause conflicting thoughts about what you are doing or what you feel you should be doing, and why. This can leave you feeling trapped and isolated in a job or relationship you used to enjoy, not understanding why that may no longer be the case. I understand from my personal experience that my addiction impacted my life and the lives of my family and the difficulties created by domestic abuse for us all.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
