About me

Hello my name is Jo-anna l am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, providing individual and couples therapy.

It takes great courage and self awareness to attend counselling well done for taking the first step. I believe it's important you find someone who is a good fit for you to work with. Someone you trust and feel seen, heard and understood by in order to develop a healthy therapeutic relationship to give you a positive experience and increase the efficacy of your desired therapeutic outcomes.

I provide a safe non-judgmental and confidential space where client autonomy and mutual respect are key. l encourage clients to discover and make the changes they desire within themselves, their lives or in their relationships.

You may have a specific situation you want to explore and have set goals and desired outcomes from therapy. You may want to explore your family of origin history or an experience where you feel stuck.

Life may have thrown you a curve ball (or two) or and you may have unresolved trauma, you may have experienced a bereavement or loss of a job or your health. There are many circumstances in life when we understandably need professional support to get through or lighten the load a little.

Maybe you're not sure who you really are, what you want from life or which direction you want to go. Could you need help to understand yourself a little better or need help managing or regulating your emotions. Do you want to build self confidence, self esteem or assertiveness skills maybe or are there issues in a relationship you need help with.

As an integrative therapist l provide a service crafted to suit each client as the unique individual they are.

One size doesn't fit all. l take each clients personality, desires, capacity and needs and create a blended working model from several schools of therapy which l am trained and qualified in.

Some of the modalities l incorporate are:

Transactional Analysis /Person Centred Therapy/CBT/Systemic Family Therapy/DBT/Solution Focused Therapy/Psychoanalytical Therapy.

I am an open and down to earth person with an intrinsic desire to help others.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
