About me

About me and my approach

While this section is about me, my work is centred on you, your experiences, your needs, and what you hope to find in counselling. The relationship we create together will be the foundation of our work.

You might know exactly what you want to talk about, or you may simply feel that something isn’t right. Either way, that’s enough to begin.

Does even thought of contacting someone induce anxiety in you? Do you feel that the weight of your depression gets in the way of you reaching out for help? Is your self-worth so low that everyone else's needs and wants come before yours?

Whether your thoughts feel clear or tangled, whether your emotions are loud or hidden, we start where you are. It’s normal to feel unsure, speaking aloud what you’ve kept inside can feel daunting.

I also offer couples counselling using the same principals as my individual work. Each couple has a unique relationship which is the combination of two individuals which can lead to miscommunication and for the relationship to faulter. Working together we would look at the issues which are hindering the relationship being the full and loving bond it can be.

Whether looking for individual sessions or couples counselling considering counselling, you’ve already taken your first step towards change, understanding, and healing. We will go at your pace, and I’ll be alongside you throughout. You don’t need to have it all worked out, you just need to take that first step and see where it leads.

Training, qualifications & experience

When I started counselling, I had no idea there were so many different approaches, let alone the different routes there were to become a therapeutic counsellor. So, if I tell you I’m a person-centred therapeutic counsellor, holding a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, that might not mean much to you at first.

What it means is that you are at the centre of the work we do together. I believe no one knows your life, your experiences, or your needs better than you.

As part of the training at this level I have worked with clients through The Road Victims Trust (a charity supporting those affected by fatal road collisions) and Pegasus – Men’s Wellbeing Centre. I’ve supported people with a wide range of issues, including:

  • Traumatic bereavement
  • Grief
  • PTSD
  • Domestic and childhood abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Physical and mental health challenges
  • Life's transitions
