About me
Hi, I'm Jen and I'm here to listen. Thank you for reaching out.
I'm a humanistic integrative counsellor offering you confidential, authentic and non-judgemental support.
How Counselling Can Help
Integrative counselling combines various theories and techniques to personalise therapy to you and your needs. We're all different, what's one person's preference won't be another's cuppa tea. Through working together within talk therapy, you can establish a more comprehensible understanding of yourself, and with that clearer understanding can come empowerment and growth.
Our focus will be to help you through your troubles and explore ways of enhancing your wellbeing. You have full autonomy.
What To Expect In Your First Session
During your first session I will gather some personal information from you, including any previous experience you may have in counselling. We will then go on to contracting where, together, we discuss what hopes and expectations from counselling you may have, what your thoughts and feelings are surrounding it, what I can and can't offer to you, and professional boundaries and limitations such as session times, confidentiality and safeguarding. Once the admin is completed, the session is led by you and what you would like to discuss.
My welcoming, safe and confidential therapy room is located in Barnstaple, North Devon for in person sessions. I also offer counselling across the UK via Zoom and telephone, and Walk & Talk Therapy within the beautiful Devonshire countryside.
I offer a free 20 minute introduction via phone or Zoom - Please contact me to arrange this.
About Me:
My counselling journey started when I experienced the onset of early perimenopause at the age of 39 with minimal local support available. Then, as my training progressed, I discovered a passion in diversity, LGBTQIA+ communities and varying cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs.
I welcome all, offering a safe, fair, and respectful space to be you with no judgements.
I accept you and all that you are, I respect you and all that you are, I offer empathy to you and all that you are, and I will be genuine and authentic to you and all that you are.
I am a Registered Member (MBACP) of the BACP and I'm fully committed to the Ethical Framework, ensuring every individual is treated equally and with dignity.
Thank you :)

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
