About me

Whether you’re dealing with low mood or anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, traumatic experiences or life transitions, I offer a warm and genuine relationship to allow you to open up and share the weight of what you have been carrying. I can provide a space for you to express your thoughts and feelings, understand yourself more deeply, and make positive changes in your life. Our sessions can be a chance for you to pause and connect with yourself without distraction or judgement.

I know how hard it can be to take the first step in seeking support and I understand the thought of talking to someone about how you feel may be scary. When you are struggling with painful feelings or experiences it can be overwhelming to ask for help, but you are not alone and change is possible. My goal as a Counsellor is to be alongside you in whatever challenges you are facing and build a trusting relationship where you can be yourself. I offer acceptance, empathy and compassion to help you feel listened to and understood.

You might be facing a really hard time in your life that you want support through, or you may feel in a good place but want time to slow down and reflect. I can provide a space for you to explore your beliefs, thoughts and feelings, understand and process your experiences, or find ways to cope with difficult emotions or situations. We can work with anything to do with your past, present or future. You may want support to make positive changes such as developing new helpful thoughts and beliefs, changing old patterns in your life and relationships, or building resilience and confidence to face life’s challenges.

Whatever it is you’re wanting from counselling, we will work together at your pace. I take time to get to know you and what you’re experiencing to find a way of working together that feels right for you. And if you’re not sure what you want from counselling, we can figure it out together.

I currently have availability on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. In-person sessions are in Retford town centre. I can also offer video and phone sessions. My price is £50 per session.

I understand that counselling is a commitment and how important it is to find the right Counsellor for you, so I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation to talk about what’s brought you to counselling and how we can work together. So if you are interested please send me an email and we can arrange an initial phone call.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, insured Counsellor and a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

I have a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice. I am also working towards the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression qualification; this is an evidence-based, NICE recommended psychological therapy used within the NHS.

I have worked with people experiencing a range of issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Trauma
  • Historic abuse
  • Childhood issues
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Low self-esteem

I also specialise in supporting women having worked as a Counsellor at a women’s centre, and am experienced in working with trauma. Prior to being a Counsellor I worked in mental health and substance misuse support. I work with adults 18+ and have worked with people from a variety of backgrounds.

A person-centred approach is at the core of my practice which means I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space and help empower you in your journey rather than giving advice or directing the sessions. I also bring in other elements such as emotion-focused, psychodynamic and CBT, depending on what you would like to get out of counselling.

I am always learning and developing myself as a Counsellor through supervision and continued professional development, some recent examples include working with shame, somatic techniques in therapy and emotional regulation for trauma.
