About me
Specialised Trauma Therapist
"Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives." Gabor Mate
I guide people through the complex emotional and physical effects of traumatic experiences and stress.
I integrate my professional training and personal insights into a therapeutic approach which is led by an intention to:
- understand the unique and complex experiences of your life
- support you in your goals and with the challenges you face
- be alongside you in your journey
I work within this field as my own experiences of complex trauma made me understand the constant onslaught of challenges faced by those suffering with chronic conditions such as Complex PTSD, Pain, Fatigue ME/CFS, Eating Disorders, Addiction, Fibromyalgia, BPD, Bi-Polar, OCD, Sexual/Intimacy Related Issues, Identity Issues, chronic or severe Depression and Anxiety.
My approach is informed by the latest developments and approaches including Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Informed Therapy, Schema Therapy, Transforming Touch and Attachment Theory.
My therapy is grounded in trauma-informed approaches, integrating both talking therapies and somatic body-based techniques to support holistic healing.
As a Polyvagal-Informed Therapist, I focus on understanding how your nervous system has adapted to survive tough or dangerous situations. My therapeutic approach is specifically designed to support those suffering from the deep and lasting impacts of trauma.
As your therapist, I create a deeply compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can face the deep wounds you’ve carried, sometimes for a lifetime. Maybe you feel hopeless after many unsuccessful attempts to find relief before this. I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey and help you find a way forward.

Training, qualifications & experience
My extensive and ongoing therapeutic training enables me to offer specialised support to people who are experiencing the profound effects of trauma.
My practice is informed by the leading treatments and research within the field of trauma, such as:
- Somatic Experiencing
- Polyvagal Theory
- Transforming Touch
- Integrative Talking Therapies (Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems)
To cope with overwhelming internal experiences, many people develop coping behaviours. While these behaviours may seem helpful at first, they can eventually become harmful and out of control.
I am also trained in supporting individuals struggling with:
- Addictions – both behavioural and substance-related
- Eating Disorders and unhealthy eating behaviours
- Compulsive Disorders and behaviours
Trauma does not come in a neat small package but instead it affects all areas of your life and all parts of who you are. This is why treatment needs to address the complex impact of these experiences for real healing and change to take place.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

"I wanted to say thank you again. You really helped me out a lot an enabled me to develop the strength, resilience, calm and the needed toolkit to understand, welcome, overcome and heal my anxiety and depression."
"Jacob is incredibly professional - he is prompt in communication, compassionate in sessions.
He does a great job providing structure and narrative to what I am going through and to our work together. He also does an excellent job giving realistic advice/perspective and not promising more than therapy can deliver.
Hands down the best therapist I have worked with."
