About me
If you’re looking at this page, you’ve probably decided to take that first step towards exploring therapy and are curious about how it might be able to help with whatever you’re experiencing now, whether it’s anxiety, depression, current or historical challenges, or something difficult to name but which is making life feel unsettled or overwhelming. Whatever it might be, it takes courage to get here, so welcome…and please also feel welcome to take the next step of getting in touch to find out more, even if you decide not to proceed.
I am an established and experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist offering both long and short-term therapy to individual adults. I work with a diverse range of people as well as with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, bereavement, relationship and family issues, eating disorders and dysmorphia, identity issues, PTSD, and intergenerational trauma.
My private practice is based in Digswell, near Welwyn Garden City, with easy transport links and parking. I work both in-person and online, and we can decide on the best format, including a mix of both, depending on your requirements.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the Cambridge Society for Psychotherapy and am accredited by the UKCP. In addition to my therapeutic work, I have also undertaken regulatory work with the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College (CPAJC), assessing and accrediting psychoanalytic organisations and individual therapists.
At the moment, my therapeutic work comprises my private practice based in Disgwell, and a college-based practice with Pembroke College, Ridley Hall, and Westcott House (University of Cambridge).
I have worked as a therapist for 15 years, prior to which I was a Reader in English Linguistics at King's College London. I hold an MPhil and PhD in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge, and a BA in English Literature and Linguistics from the University of the West Indies.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago and have lived in the UK since the 1990s. My background and experiences - personal, academic, social - have gifted me a worldview and therapeutic approach which stays open to diversity and divergence, the weight of intergenerational inheritance (both traumatic and joyful), and the power of how we story ourselves - and are storied - in the world. I look forward to exploring your world with you.
