About me
Hi, I’m Irena, a trauma-informed, integrative existential psychotherapist offering a warm, insightful and relational approach to therapy.
My experience includes working across mental health charities, counselling and psychotherapy services, and private practice, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, from everyday struggles to more complex difficulties. I trained (MA, PGDip) at Regent's University in London, which is renowned for its rigorous approach to psychotherapy training. My background in the creative arts and education contributes to my sensitivity, openness, and care in facilitating your therapy journey.
I work with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, life transitions, loss, and also specialise in issues around identity and belonging. My approach is integrative-existential, which means we'll look at your emotions, thoughts, relationships, and past experiences, while also exploring bigger questions such as meaning, identity, choice, and direction in your life. I pay close attention to what you say, what’s hard to say, and what’s happening beneath the surface to reveal perceptions and patterns that are often not in your awareness. The focus is on developing a clearer understanding of yourself, greater emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of agency.
Central to my practice is building an honest, compassionate relationship that fosters trust, making you feel safe enough to share your whole self, including the parts that you may be ashamed of and find difficult to love. This is what makes therapy effective. The therapy process should not feel clinical, it's where things can finally start to make sense.
Clients often find they relate differently to stress, uncertainty, and relationships, and feel more aligned with their values and direction. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel understood and supported as you try something different and open up to new possibilities, giving you hope for a more fulfilling life.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
