About me
Hi, I’m Ingrid, an individual and couples counsellor based in the north of Glasgow, close to the West End, Maryhill and Bearsden.
I work in a way that feels right for you, taking into account your personal preferences and what you hope to gain from counselling. I draw on a range of tried and tested therapeutic approaches that I have learnt over the years, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic and Compassion-Focused approaches. I also incorporate ideas from mindfulness and body-based awareness, and I am happy to work creatively where this feels helpful.
I know how hard it can be to be a person. Sometimes we are our own worst critics, or we have been given challenges that feel too much to handle alone. Relationships can be particularly complex, and finding healthier ways of understanding ourselves and how we relate to others can be life-changing.
Working through my own personal and relationship challenges has given me both lived experience and a deep commitment to supporting others. This has shaped my passion for helping people move past what may be holding them back from living the life they want.
I work therapeutically with adults, couples, students and young people, supporting issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, health concerns and grief. These are some of the issues that commonly arise in my work, but I am open to working with whatever it is that you would like support with.
Often, life presents us with more than one difficulty at a time.
The most important element of my counselling work is offering a warm, safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, where you can explore whatever feels hard, causes you distress, or is something you wish to change or improve.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
