About me
Every client is unique and there is no one size fits all approach to psychotherapy. I work together with my clients to ensure that the therapy develops at a pace and style that suits their individual needs.
My approach to psychotherapy is underpinned by an attachment-based psychoanalytic framework. Attachment theory focuses on the long-lasting impact of our earliest relationships with our childhood caregivers, such as our parents. It emphasises the importance of those early relationships in enabling us to grow and develop a healthy sense of self, and the issues that arise when these relationships are insufficiently secure and supportive. Attachment therapy is therefore based on a co-created relationship between therapist and client. As a therapist, I am committed to supporting you on this journey, with a view to helping you feel stronger, happier and more in control.
I provide a confidential and caring environment in which people can explore their issues and gain a better understanding of themselves, their emotions and their patterns of behaviour. In doing so, I aim to help people to reflect on where they are in life and resolve their issues and hopefully live a happier life.
Prior to training as an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I have an extensive career background in PR and communications, focused on the healthcare and charity sectors. This armed me with many transferable skills, attributes and qualifications which inform my work as a psychotherapist.
Training, qualifications & experience
No matter what brings you to therapy, I am committed to creating a safe and reflective space to talk and work through any issues you may be experiencing. I am focused on developing an open and trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients, in order to support growth and change, as appropriate.
I am a qualified attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the BACP. I completed my training at The Bowlby Centre (a UKCP accredited institution). I am committed to following the ethical and professional codes of practice of the UKCP, the BACP and The Bowlby Centre.
As an attachment-based therapist, I have experience in helping people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. I have worked with clients who have come to therapy with a variety of issues including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, discrimination, difficult life decisions and feeling in a state of crisis.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
