About me

I have been working as a counsellor for over thirty years, having worked as a GP Practice Counsellor in the NHS, in humanitarian aid organisations and supporting people in local government,  private and public sector employment, and charities, as well as the general public. This broad experience is available to support you, too.

I work mainly online via Zoom calls, but can also meet face-to-face, if preferred, in the Oswestry, Shropshire area.  I also see clients internationally and am flexible to other time zones around the world.

I work with adults, couples and families dealing with a whole range of things such as: relationship breakdown; marriage issues; low self-esteem; bullying; historic abuse; domestic abuse,  fears and anxiety; anger issues; shame; addictions; depression; bereavement, disappointment and loss.

My specialisation is dealing with trauma, either deriving from family backgrounds, family displacement due to war-related trauma, or other critical incidents such as accidents, robbery and assault.

My passion is seeing people discover - or recover - a deep sense of personal identity, value and dignity, purpose and meaning for their lives, realising how unique, wonderful and amazing they are.  This leads to renewed hope that life can be different, that all is not lost, and that recovery is possible.

To facilitate this process, I always give my full empathic personal attention, genuine non-judgemental acceptance, and a good sense of humour, to ensure that counselling is an enjoyable and growth-focused experience.

If you are looking for a safe space to explore current or past personal challenges you are most welcome to get in touch. I offer a 30-minute free introductory online call to see what you need and to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you, and to agree on the next steps.

I originally trained in Person-Centred counselling and now use an integrative approach, appropriate to whatever will help individuals' or couples' needs.

Key focus areas: Self-acceptance; anxiety and depression; life transitions; bereavement and loss; recovery from trauma; personal resilience; relationship transformation; stress-reduction; work-related challenges, including job insecurity and redundancy; home- and family-related difficulties.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Counselling
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision
  • MSc Psychological Trauma

I have more than 30 years' experience working with individuals, couples and organisational leaders all over the world. I have also worked with faith-based and secular organisations, relief and development organisations, as well as spending 11 years as a GP practice counsellor in the NHS.  I have seen people's lives transformed as they learn to treat themselves with kindness, and learn to appreciate others, too.

My main work is with individuals and couples dealing with such issues as:
relationship breakdown; marriage issues; low self-esteem; trauma deriving from family backgrounds and other crises, including war-related trauma and critical incidents; fears and anxiety; anger issues; addictions; depression; bereavement; disappointment and loss.

If you are determined to change, to take responsibility for yourself and your actions, to recover from past hurt and to live more authentically with hope for the future, then I would be glad to assist you on your journey.
