About me

Hi, my name is Iain. As a therapist with a background of working at charities such as Mind & the Carers Centre, I work with the here and now considerations of your life, to help you overcome obstacles on your path to greater clarity and self-reassurance.  By working together to find understanding over your situation, we can restore your confidence and take action with a renewed and positive perspective.

Maybe you are struggling in your relationships, feel unheard and unacknowledged by people close to you. Or you need to gain understanding about a complicated situation. Maybe you want to overcome an undesirable attribute or unwanted behaviour. Or do you want to overcome depression, come to terms with loss or simply get support through a difficult time in your life. Therapy provides a place for you to reflect on what you may be finding challenging. By talking in a safe space, this can often be the start of finding something new, and with a renewed clarity this often gives us the ability to choose an alternative direction.

Working with the humanistic principles of honesty and positive regard, in a warm and confidential setting, I work with the here and now considerations of your current circumstances. By establishing what might be going on for you in the present, acknowledging your immediate reality, greater clarity can be found through a therapeutic working relationship. Counselling provides a place for you to reflect on what you may be finding challenging and through talking in a safe space, find clarity, in order to make decisions that can benefit you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
