About me

What if you didn’t have to carry it all on your own? Whether you’re facing anxiety, grief, trauma, illness, chronic pain, a life-changing diagnosis or simply feeling lost and overwhelmed, I offer a safe and accepting space where nothing is too much, too messy or too difficult to talk about.

You don’t need to know where to start. We can start together.

I’m Hannah, a Person-Centred Counsellor, and I offer a warm, genuine and non-judgemental space where you can come exactly as you are.

I believe counselling should feel like a safe place to be heard, understood and accepted. You don’t need to find the “right” words, have a diagnosis or know where to start. My role isn’t to tell you what you should do or how you should feel. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

Our sessions are your space.

I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, depending on what you need and what feels right for you. Some people come with a specific difficulty they want to work through, while others want somewhere to explore how they’re feeling and better understand themselves.

Supporting you through difficult and life-changing experiences

I have a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic pain, life-limiting or life-changing illness, new diagnoses, bereavement and trauma.

When life changes unexpectedly, it can bring emotions that are difficult to process. Fear, anger, grief, sadness, uncertainty and frustration can all sit alongside one another. You may feel that you have to be strong for everyone else, while having nowhere to put your own feelings.

You don’t have to put on a brave face in counselling.

I can provide a space where you can acknowledge and explore whatever you’re experiencing, without judgement.

I also work with a wide range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, panic and excessive worry
  • Depression and low mood
  • Stress, overwhelm and burnout
  • Trauma and difficult past experiences
  • Bereavement, grief and loss
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Anger and emotional difficulties
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Life transitions and significant change
  • Work-related stress
  • Identity and self-exploration
  • LGBTQ+ related issues
  • Neurodiversity-related challenges
  • Coping with illness and health changes
  • Loss of purpose or direction
  • Personal development and self-discovery
  • A space where you can be yourself

I’m committed to providing an LGBTQ+ inclusive and affirming safe space, where you can explore your identity, relationships and experiences without judgement.

I’m also neurodiversity-friendly and recognise that everyone communicates and processes emotions differently. I won’t expect you to fit into a particular idea of what counselling should look like. We’ll work together to find an approach that feels comfortable and useful for you.

Most importantly, you don’t need to pretend with me.

You can bring the parts of yourself that feel messy, complicated, painful or difficult to understand. You can talk, cry, laugh, be angry, feel confused or simply sit with what you’re feeling.

There is no judgement here.

If you’re considering counselling, I’d be happy to hear from you. We can talk about what you’re looking for and whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes, having a safe place to start is enough.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Affordable counselling

I believe that financial circumstances shouldn’t always be a barrier to accessing support. I have a limited number of reduced-cost counselling spaces available for clients who may be experiencing financial difficulty.

If cost is something you’re worried about, please feel comfortable mentioning this when you get in touch. We can have an open conversation about what might be manageable for you.
