How I work

I listen carefully to what you say so you can help me understand what is happening for you at the moment and I am guided by you as you speak about the changes you would like to make.

My mission is to quickly and thoroughly improve the parts of your life you need support with by using gentle, well researched, therapies that I have used and know to be effective and long lasting.

I understand that looking for help can sometimes be a daunting prospect so I am happy to spend as little or as much time as you need explaining the process and talking through what is right for you so you are comfortable and confident about the course of therapy.

Once you are happy we can start the process of helping you feel better.

About Me

I maintain a busy and varied practice in Dorset and Hampshire and where I work privately and for the NHS.
I am also the therapeutic lead in a Central London secondary school where I support children and young people through their life at school.
I am also registered AVIVA Health Care counsellor.

Training, qualifications & experience

To reach Accreditation status with the BACP it is necessary to have an advanced counselling qualification in the first instance and to undergo yearly relevant continuing professional development. Please look at this link that will explain more about the process www.bacp.co.uk/accreditation/

In addition to my Accredited status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I have a specific interest and extensive training in Attachment Therapy, Family Therapy,  EMDR, Trauma Recovery, Group Work and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

I have Professional Liability Insurance and every year I undertake an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
