About me
Welcome. I'm Gemma, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor, and I offer a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Our work might involve exploring past experiences, understanding the patterns in how you think and feel, and developing practical ways to manage anxiety, overwhelm, or stress. Along the way, my hope is that you feel more grounded, gain clarity, and build the confidence to cope.
People often come to me when things have started to feel like too much. Some are living with low mood, trauma, or difficult relationships. Others are adjusting to a life change, the impact of a long-term health condition, or questions about who they are. Many tell me they feel stuck, exhausted by coping on their own, or disconnected from themselves and the people around them.
In our early sessions, I'll focus on getting to know you and what has brought you to counselling, so you feel safe and able to trust the process. From there, we'll shape the work around your goals, with room to adjust as we go.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on these approaches and adapt them to your needs and goals. Person-centred work offers a warm, non-judgemental space where you set the pace. Psychodynamic work explores how past experiences and patterns shape how you feel today. Cognitive work looks at how thoughts, feelings and behaviour connect, and builds practical strategies for managing difficulties. You don't need to choose between them, as I'll bring in whatever is most helpful for you.
I have a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic illness, and parents and carers of children with chronic health conditions, though you don't need a diagnosis to work with me. I understand how heavy that can feel, and how daunting it can be to ask for support. My aim is to make sessions safe, compassionate, and supportive.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
