About me

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You may know exactly what you want to talk about, or you may simply know that something doesn’t feel right and you need somewhere to begin. Whatever brings you to counselling, I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore what is happening for you, at a pace that feels comfortable.

I have worked with children and young people for over 30 years and, for the past 12 years, have worked in family support, supporting both adults and young people through a wide range of challenges and life experiences. My work has given me extensive experience of supporting neurodivergent people, particularly those with ADHD and autism, as well as people affected by domestic abuse.

ADHD is a particular area of interest and specialism for me. I bring both professional knowledge and lived experience, having an ADHD diagnosis myself. I have studied ADHD extensively and have developed and delivered courses to help others gain a greater understanding of ADHD and the impact it can have on everyday life, relationships, emotions and our sense of self.

I also have a particular passion for men’s mental health. Many men have grown up with powerful messages about having to cope, stay strong, or keep difficult emotions to themselves. Counselling can provide an opportunity to step away from those expectations and have a space where you don’t need to pretend that everything is fine. I aim to provide an environment where emotions can be explored openly, honestly, and without judgement.

You may be experiencing anxiety, difficult feelings, past trauma, relationship problems, or worries that feel overwhelming. Perhaps you are trying to make sense of a recent ADHD or autism diagnosis, or you simply feel stuck and are not quite sure why. You don’t need to arrive with all the answers. We can begin with what is happening for you now and explore things together.

My approach is based on building a trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, accepted, and understood. Counselling isn't about me telling you what to do. Instead, I will work alongside you, helping you explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, and consider what positive change might look like for you.

I offer face-to-face and online counselling sessions. Face-to-face appointments take place in my dedicated, purpose-built counselling room at my home, providing a comfortable and private space away from the pressures of everyday life.

I also offer a free initial telephone consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and most importantly, see whether we feel we would be a good fit for working together.

Reaching out can sometimes be the hardest part. If you feel I might be the right counsellor for you, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
