About me
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you have been managing a lot on your own or prioritising the needs of others. I am a qualified Pluralistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist, as well as a qualified Children and Young Person's Counsellor, with experience working with adults, unpaid carers, children, and young people. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can slow down, feel heard, and explore whatever you are facing at a pace that feels right for you. I believe therapy should feel human and adaptable rather than prescriptive, so our work together is shaped around your individual needs, experiences, and goals.
I work with a wide range of presentations, including grief and loss, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), trauma and abuse-informed work, separation and relationship changes, emotional regulation, identity exploration, and low self-esteem. My approach is grounded in person-centred values while drawing from psychodynamic thinking, mindfulness, somatic awareness, creative approaches, and practical strategies when helpful. As a pluralistic counsellor, I recognise that there is no single way therapy should look; together we find approaches that feel safe, meaningful, and manageable for you.
Clients often come to me when they feel stuck, exhausted, or unsure how to make sense of their thoughts and emotions. My aim is to provide a compassionate, non-judgemental environment where you can develop greater self-understanding, process difficult experiences, and build emotional resilience and self-trust.
I offer sessions both in person and online.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a qualification in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a qualified Children and Young People’s Counsellor. Alongside my private work, I work as a Young Person’s Counsellor within primary and secondary school settings in Argyll and have extensive experience supporting unpaid carers within carers’ services across Mid Argyll.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the BACP Children, Young People and Families division (BACP CYPF) and work in accordance with their ethical framework, engaging in ongoing professional development, supervision, and reflective practice to support safe and ethical counselling.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
