Person-Centred Counsellor

About me

In our sessions we can together, explore whatever comes up for you. You may have specific areas you want to address; or issues in your life that need attention. Sometimes the process of talking therapy means you are hearing for the first time the challenges you face; they become real and more tangible, and the tangled yarn that your life may seem like becomes more ordered and easier to understand. I believe in providing a non-judgemental and accepting environment for you to express whatever it is that needs to be heard. The therapeutic relationship can be a powerful tool for understanding your patterns of relating to others and your ways of being. Through this understanding it is possible to change and grow, and I will be there to walk alongside you in that process. I believe strongly that as individuals we know our 'true North' and that we just need a caring, compassionate environment in order to find our bearings.

Training, qualifications & experience

In the past I have been a mental health nurse, as well as working in primary care for over 6 years .

I have also worked as a carer support worker, and briefly as a  youth peer mentor.

I have recently qualified as a counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in the Person-Centred modality.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information

I have decided to adjust my fees for the next 6 months, in light of the current economic situation for many people, who may be struggling with every day living costs, and not be able to afford to pay to get care and attention for their mental health. Unfortunately, cost is a big factor when people are considering getting help, and I hope this different approach will encourage people to seek the help they need. After October 2022, I will review my fees again.
