About me
Do you find yourself overthinking, struggling with relationships, or feeling affected by experiences from your past?
Perhaps you find yourself questioning your worth, putting other people's needs before your own, or worrying about how others see you. You might notice that certain patterns keep repeating in your relationships, that you find it difficult to set boundaries, or that experiences from earlier in life still affect how you feel about yourself today. You may understand some of these difficulties, yet find yourself reacting in ways you don't fully understand or struggling to make lasting changes.
Our past experiences and relationships can shape how we see ourselves, how we connect with others and how we respond to the world around us. Sometimes, ways of thinking, feeling and behaving that once helped us cope can become difficult to change, even when they no longer serve us.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can begin to make sense of these experiences together. My approach combines understanding and reflection with a focus on helping you recognise patterns, explore underlying beliefs and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others. You don't have to navigate everything alone, and you don't need to have the right words or know where to begin.
As an integrative counsellor, I recognise that there is no single approach that works for everyone. Our work will be shaped around your individual experiences, needs and goals, allowing space for both understanding where difficulties may come from and exploring what might help you move forward.
My aim is for you to feel heard and understood, while also helping you develop greater self-awareness, confidence and a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Counselling can be an opportunity to make sense of your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and begin to create changes that feel meaningful and lasting.
I offer counselling for adults in Leicester, both face-to-face and online.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a degree in psychology, alongside a Master's qualification in counselling and psychotherapy from an accredited course. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I bring over 10 years of experience working within NHS settings, most recently as an Employment Specialist within a mental health team. Throughout my career, I have worked alongside people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, gaining an understanding of how these challenges can affect emotional wellbeing, confidence, identity and relationships.
My experience also includes working with people affected by domestic abuse and childhood trauma. This has given me valuable insight into the ways difficult experiences and relationships can influence how people see themselves, develop trust and relate to others. I recognise that these experiences can have a lasting impact, and that understanding them requires sensitivity, patience and an appreciation of each person's individual circumstances.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred counselling, attachment theory, schema therapy, Gestalt and acceptance-based approaches. These perspectives help me consider the connections between thoughts, emotions, past experiences, relationship patterns and present-day difficulties. I draw on the approaches relevant to each individual, adapting our work to their needs and goals.
I believe that effective counselling involves both a strong therapeutic relationship and a thoughtful understanding of the difficulties a person is experiencing. My aim is to combine professional knowledge and experience with warmth, curiosity and respect, helping clients explore their experiences and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. You may be used to managing things on your own, putting others first, or finding it difficult to talk about what you are going through. You might not know exactly what you need from counselling, and that is absolutely okay.
For me, counselling is about creating a space where you can feel comfortable enough to be yourself, explore your experiences openly and begin to make sense of things that may have felt confusing or difficult for a long time. I aim to offer a relationship built on trust, empathy and respect, where you feel listened to rather than judged, and supported rather than told what to do.
I recognise that opening up can take time, particularly if you have experienced situations where you have felt unheard, let down, or struggled to trust others. We do not need to rush. We can work at a pace that feels manageable for you, allowing time to explore difficult feelings and experiences while recognising your individual strengths and resources.
I also believe that understanding yourself is an important part of change. Alongside having space to talk and feel heard, our work can help you recognise patterns, explore beliefs you may have developed about yourself and your relationships, and consider different ways of responding to situations that feel difficult. The aim is not to change who you are, but to help you understand yourself more fully and find ways of living that feel more fulfilling and authentic.
You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. Whatever has brought you here, we can begin with what feels most important to you and explore it together.
If you feel that my approach might be right for you, you are welcome to get in touch. I understand that finding the right counsellor matters, and I would be happy to discuss whether working together feels like a good fit.
