About me
For all of us, the past can intrude into the present. We find ourselves repeating the same unhappy relationships, the same unhelpful patterns, trapped within the same old fears. Counselling is a proven method for change. It offers new alternatives; by understanding how we repeat ourselves, it clears a path for who we might be, with new possibilities waiting to be realised.
My integrative approach weaves humanistic empathy with psychoanalytic depth. My therapeutic focus is the dialogue that forms between us as you tell your story. How you do so is up to you: you may want to address specific issues, understand a difficult relationship, process past traumas, or to simply make sense of who you really are.
Throughout, our only task is greater awareness. We’ll explore issues led by you, at a pace tailored by you. From my own experience, I know this is a path to greater wellbeing. A curiosity about yourself is all that is needed to begin.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BSc in Integrative Counselling from Matrix College of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have three years experience counselling clients at Off The Record, seeing a diverse range of clients. I also have four years of experience working in a psychiatric hospital as a support worker, where I was employed before becoming a counsellor.
My first degree was in Philosophy at The University of Essex, where I cultivated my lifelong interests in existentialism, phenomenology and the philosophy of mind.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Our first session will involve getting a sense of what’s brought you to counselling, what you’d like to get out of it, and whether I’ll be the right person for you. If you’re new to counselling, it can be difficult to know who would work for you. For this reason, I offer a half price initial consultation session to see if we’d be a good fit. I'm happy to answer any queries, so please feel free to send me an email for further details.
