About me
I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner, and EMDR-trained psychologist offering formulation-led psychological therapy for adults. I provide a thoughtful, collaborative approach that aims to help you understand the underlying patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, relationships and behaviours, rather than simply focusing on symptoms.
I work with a range of difficulties including trauma, anxiety, low mood, stress and burnout, relationship difficulties, self-esteem and identity, eating disorders, emotional eating, body image concerns, obesity, and the psychological impact of living with chronic or long-term health conditions. I also have specialist NHS experience in physical health psychology and understand how health conditions can affect confidence, relationships, identity and emotional wellbeing.
Therapy is tailored to your individual needs and may draw on Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), EMDR, and other evidence-based psychological approaches. Together, we develop a shared understanding of what has brought you to this point, why certain patterns may have developed, and how meaningful, lasting change can become possible.
I offer face-to-face appointments in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and online therapy for adults across the UK.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology which I completed in the UK in 2015. Alongside my doctoral training, I am an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner and have completed EMDR training. My clinical experience includes specialist work in physical health psychology, HIV services, weight management, eating disorders, obesity, trauma, and complex psychological difficulties (both NHS and private sector).
My approach is evidence-based, formulation-led and integrative, drawing on different psychological models according to each person’s individual needs rather than applying the same therapy to everyone. I am committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining high standards of ethical, reflective and compassionate practice.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
In addition to the areas listed above, I have a particular interest in formulation-led psychological therapy, helping people understand the underlying patterns that may be contributing to emotional difficulties, relationship challenges or a sense of feeling stuck.
My areas of interest include body image, emotional eating, obesity and weight management, the psychological impact of living with lipedema/lipoedema and other chronic health conditions, identity, self-worth, self-criticism, shame, people-pleasing, attachment and relational patterns, psychological adjustment to GLP-1 medication, and adjustment following diagnosis, illness or surgery.
I also work with adults experiencing relationship difficulties, including recurring relational patterns, difficulties with trust, boundaries, intimacy, abandonment, and the emotional impact of betrayal or relationship breakdown. I work with individuals rather than couples, helping clients understand both their relationships with others and the relationship they have with themselves.
Many of the people I work with appear to be functioning well on the outside while privately struggling with perfectionism, imposter syndrome, high-functioning anxiety, significant life transitions, or feeling disconnected from themselves despite managing considerable responsibilities. Therapy provides an opportunity to explore questions of meaning, purpose and identity, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and create meaningful, lasting psychological change.

Further information
I believe that lasting psychological change begins with understanding rather than simply treating symptoms. Many people come to therapy already knowing what they think they “should” do, yet continue to feel stuck in familiar patterns. My aim is to help clients make sense of these patterns, understand how they developed, and identify opportunities for meaningful and sustainable change.
I welcome adults from a wide range of backgrounds; my approach is trauma informed and identity/neuro-affirmative.
Many of my clients are professionals or individuals balancing significant responsibilities while privately struggling with stress, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, body image concerns, chronic health conditions, or a sense of feeling stuck despite functioning well in other areas of life. Whether you are seeking support for a specific psychological difficulty or simply want to better understand yourself and the patterns that continue to affect your life, therapy offers a space to develop greater insight and create meaningful, lasting change.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy depending on your needs, beginning with a free 15-minute consultation to discuss what you are looking for and whether my approach is likely to meet your needs.
