About me

Emma Clewer | Emma & You Therapy | Counsellor & Psychotherapist | Prof. Dip. Psychotherapeutic Counselling | Dip. Counselling Children & Young People |MBACP (Registered)

Hello, I'm Emma. I am a BACP-registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. I work with adults, young people and children over the age of 8.

I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can explore your experiences safely and at your own pace. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling to make sense of painful experiences such as domestic abuse, bereavement, trauma, or difficult relationships. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, alone in what you're going through, or unsure how to move forward.

My own personal lived experiences have given me insight into how life’s challenges can impact our sense of identity, self-worth, mental wellbeing and our everyday life. Whether you’re beginning therapy for the first time or continuing your healing journey, counselling with me offers a calm, compassionate place to explore your story at a pace that feels right for you.

At Emma & You Therapy, you’ll find a warm, welcoming space where you can feel truly heard, understood, and supported - exactly as you are.

I can help you with things like:

  • Anxiety, stress, low mood, and depression
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Trauma
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Personal growth
  • Exploring identity
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Negative thinking patterns
  • Young people’s emotional wellbeing
  • Mindfulness and coping strategies

How I Work

At Emma & You Therapy, healing happens through connection - not pressure. I believe that every person carries the potential, wisdom and resilience within them to shape their own story, and my role is to walk alongside you as you rediscover your voice and inner strength.

I offer an integrative, holistic approach to counselling, drawing on a mix of therapeutic models to meet your unique needs. This means sessions are grounded in empathy, presence, and collaboration - and tailored to you, not a one-size-fits-all formula.

My particular professional interests are in the following areas:

  • Traumatic experiences including domestic abuse and unresolved early childhood experiences
  • Relationships
  • Understanding different parts of yourself
  • Exploring identity; discovering your sense of self, who you are and how you ant to move forward in life
  • Young persons' well-being

What You’ll Experience in Therapy

I offer you a non-judgmental approach to help you tell your story and explore the impact this is having upon you and the relationships around you. It is a space where your feelings matter, and your pace is respected.

In therapy we might:

• Explore practical coping strategies to help you feel more grounded in daily life
• Gently reflect on how past experiences may still be shaping the present
• Notice patterns in relationships and how they affect your sense of self
• Build self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion

Practical Details

  • Free initial phone call or online meeting to answer any questions you may have and explore working together
  • Sessions are typically 50 minutes
  • I offer online and telephone counselling sessions
  • I also offer Face-to-face counselling sessions in a secluded garden counselling studio
  • Flexible daytime and evening appointments.

You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin — we can start wherever you are.

If you're considering counselling, you're welcome to get in touch for a free 15-minute introductory call where we can explore whether working together feels right for you.

Who I Work With

I support adults, young people, and children over the age of 11 who are struggling with their mental wellbeing. This is often not down to one specific 'thing' but a combination of several. I do not believe in giving people labels and instead want to connect with the human, you, at the centre of everything. My areas of expertise are supporting those who have been bereaved of someone important to them and those who are victims of domestic abuse, both females and males. This means I have experience in supporting individuals living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, or relationship difficulties. Many of the people I work with have experienced challenges that left them feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they are. Together, we focus on rebuilding safety, self-trust, and emotional resilience so you can move towards a greater sense of balance and confidence.

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People. I have completed additional training in:

  • Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Somatic Awareness
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

My Way of Working

In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, calm, and collaborative space. I will not ‘do’ therapy to’ you, but rather we will work together to explore and discover new ways forward. We might explore your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations - gently connecting mind and body to support healing from the inside out. I will not judge you during the sessions, and I do not do psychological assessments. Every session is guided by your pace, your needs, and your story.

I offer both reflection and practical strategies, helping you find ways to regulate, reconnect, and rebuild from a place of compassion.
