Child, Adolescent & Young Adult Psychotherapist

About me

Hello and welcome. I am a fully qualified child and adolescent psychotherapist also working with young adults and parents.

I work relationally to facilitate deeper self-awareness and safely work through issues in order to provide relief from distress and support lasting growth.

I use a variety of approaches to fit around the person. This includes attachment, psychodynamic and neurobiology to support emotional regulation. I have over 20 years experience of working with young people and adults of which 10 years has been as a psychotherapist. I also have extensive experience of working with neurodivergence within the family and provide a neurodivergent affirming space. I am available for short and long term therapy.

  • Young Adults This can be a time of new identity and growing independence. Early adulthood can also bring up self doubt and a need to explore this changing time. Seeking therapy for the first time may feel daunting so to begin with we schedule a session to look at your main concerns and take it from there.
  • Teenagers  Adolescence brings rapid changes and is an exciting and creative time. It can also bring many challenges which can interfere with day to day life. Common difficulties include self image, academic pressure, substance misuse, relationships, self harm and social media usage. Some teens struggle to cope and this can lead to anxiety and depression. I provide a non-judgemental space for teens to explore their interests and concerns. Some teens prefer talking, for others imagery and music can be helpful.
  • Children Children’s central language is play. Unlike adults who usually rely on words to communicate, children’s play, actions and behaviour can be the key to understanding what is going on for them. I use a wide range of creative media such as drawing, story, puppetry, drama and sand tray to help children feel safe and find new ways of relating to themself and others.
  • Young Adults This can be a time of deeper exploration around identity and growing independence. It can also bring up self doubt or lingering issues. Seeking therapy for the first time may feel daunting so to begin with we schedule a session to look at your main concerns, answer any questions and take it from there.
  • Parents I offer parent consultations which can be one-offs or blocks of 4 or 6. You may want to explore recurring conflicts or issues that persist despite time. My experience with parents has demonstrated that relief can be achieved when parents feel validated and are committed to self reflection. Sometimes parents simply have questions they would like to get professional insight on. I aim to be flexible in terms of our working arrangement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
