About me
I’m a Bromley and Beckenham based qualified Counsellor experienced in counselling for anxiety, bereavement & loss, feelings of depression, low self-esteem and confidence building for individuals, couples, and children.
During my work with vulnerable families I’ve worked very closely with ADHD, (or symptoms of), and trauma related issues.
I don’t believe that one size fits all, and therapy is no exception. I choose to work integratively, this means I adapt my skill set by pulling from a range of therapy models to meet the needs of each individual.
I believe Counselling sessions should offer a unique opportunity to assess how we navigate our lives; our motivations, our fears, and our inhibitors.
In gaining deeper knowledge of ourselves we develop conscious awareness which can better inform our future actions and reactions applicable to our careers; experiences of loss and grief; our relationships with others and acceptance of self and our past.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m qualified to work integratively; incorporating a range of therapy models to best suit you.
Therapy models include: Emotion-focused therapy, Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural therapy & Transactional Analysis, and Creative therapy; incl. Guided imagery and Psychodrama.
Significantly each model is grounded on the necessary principles of therapy; congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathy.
I have counselled for St Christopher’s hospice focussing on bereavement and loss; Westmeria Counselling Service and Counselling Matters Bexley offering low cost counselling across a variety of issues. I also counsel children at a local school and run private practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
