About me
Hello and welcome!
Whether you're looking for counselling support around an unexpected life event, struggling with something specific, or if you simply have a feeling that something in your life isn't quite right, I offer a compassionate space where you can explore life's challenges, deepen self-understanding and move towards meaningful change. Nothing is too big, too small, or "wrong" to bring to counselling. I work with adults and young people and I have extensive experience of working with adults and young people in many areas including anxiety, trauma, bereavement and neurodivergence.
I believe that every person is unique, with their own experiences, circumstances and ways of understanding the world. As an integrative counsellor working from a person-centred perspective, I adapt the way I work to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular approach. We will work collaboratively, and I may draw on different therapeutic approaches, strategies and techniques where I feel they could be helpful to you.
In our sessions we might talk about what's happening for you now, explore past experiences, develop an understanding of patterns in your thoughts, feelings or relationships, or simply have space to make sense of things which are feeling difficult or overwhelming. We will always take things at your pace, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about when you arrive.
Counselling isn't about me telling you what you should do or giving you all the answers. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in understanding yourself more deeply, working things through and finding your own way forward. Through counselling, you may develop greater self-awareness, confidence and self-reliance, process experiences that have impacted your life, or feel more empowered to make choices that are right for you. My hope is that, over time, you can feel more able to trust yourself and your own ability to navigate life's challenges.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Counselling sessions can be delivered in person (in Berwick-upon-Tweed), online, by telephone and outdoors.
Finding the right therapist is really important, so before you commit to working with me I offer an initial, no-obligation telephone consultation of around 20 minutes.
During this call you will get a sense of whether I'm someone you'd feel comfortable working with, and you'll have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. We will also be able to talk a little about what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to decide anything during our conversation, however if you do feel you'd like to go ahead then we can then discuss booking our first session.
