About me

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and  a fully qualified and experienced cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP).

I offer all my clients a safe, professional, non-judgemental and confidential environment in which they can explore any past or present issues.

With my CBT work I offer evidence based interventions adapted to each individual's needs. I have experience of working with many different issues, including depression, (generalised) anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, low self esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual, emotional and physical abuse, grief/loss, relationship issues and (work and educational related) stress.

I am able to offer appointments via the telephone, WhatsApp (video) app, the Teams app, and ZOOM.

I offer free 15 minutes introductory calls to prospective clients, to give them the opportunity to ask any questions they may have before deciding if they would like to arrange an appointment.

BSc (Hons). Degree in Psychology.
Fast Track Intermediate Certificate in Counselling.
Postgraduate Diploma (Level 7) in Counselling.

I am fully committed to continuing professional development and complete several counselling/ CBT related workshops yearly. My safeguarding adults and children training is up to date and I have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate.

I am fully accredited with BABCP and I adhere to their codes of ethics.

I am registered with BACP and I adhere to their codes of ethics.

I have 12+ years experience of working in the NHS as a CBT therapist and I also have many years experience working as a counsellor and CBT therapist in private practise. In addition to this, I have worked for several years  for charities specialising in bereavement (Cruse bereavement care), children (Childline), sexual violence (CSVSS) and mental health issues (MIND). I have also worked as a counsellor at a University.

British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

An initial meeting is our first opportunity to discuss what has been troubling you and how these difficulties are affecting you. This meeting will also give you an opportunity to decide whether you feel that a therapeutic approach may be helpful for you to manage or overcome your difficulties.

I am able to undertake both short and long term counselling and CBT dependent on each individual's needs.
