About me

Hi, my name is Liz, and my pronouns are she/her.

I will gently help you explore your experience, difficulties and feelings, a process which can help you to better understand yourself, to make meaning of your experience, and to find ways in which to live better. Whilst our past is important, it need not determine how we live now and in the future. Exploring and understanding our past can help us make choices as to how to live now.

My experience includes working with anxiety, depression, family trauma, work-related stress, difficulties arising from neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. issues of identity, feelings of self-hate, compulsive behaviours, grief, loss, bereavement, relationship breakdown, abuse, and suicidal thoughts.

I am a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist and a Registered member of the BACP. My training included a wide variety of approaches, with a special focus on existential psychotherapy. This is an approach which considers how we live, how we relate to one another and what it means to be human, all of which are often a source of anxiety. Often, clients feel that they are, in some way, at odds with the world, and feel troubled by this. Existential therapy often feels intuitive as an approach when this is the case. My hope is that through the work we do together that you will come to accept and like yourself.

I am trained to Level 1 and Level 2 in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as Tapping. This is an approach that combines talking therapy with a body based approach, and which helps move from understanding and insight, to change and healing.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I had a long corporate consulting career in a professional services firm, including experience of working in the City of London. I understand well the stresses and challenges of a corporate life, and am well equipped to help you consider how you manage these.

As well as having worked as a therapist within general counselling services and in private practice, I have worked as a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Care and Maytree Respite Care for people in suicidal crisis.

I have a special interest in working with individuals who are facing challenges in living as a neurodiverse person in a neurotypical world, and work with clients living with autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

I also work extensively with individuals who have experienced trauma in relation to their family.

I am passionate about providing access to affirmative therapy for trans and gender non-conforming folk and provide an LGBTQ+ safe space. I strongly oppose the April 2025 UK Supreme Court ruling on biological sex and am a member of Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia.

I work from my premises in Chichester, and see clients both in person and online, Monday to Thursday. I have access to a wheelchair accessible space in Chichester.

I am recognised by AXA Health and Aviva Health as an approved provider.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
