About me

Hi, I am Lizzy. I am an integrative therapist offering counselling and psychotherapy to individuals for a wide variety of difficulties. We are each very different in our experiences and how we feel them. Therefore, I work with each person in a way that adapts to your own needs at that time. I offer everyone who I work with a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and understand what has brought you to therapy. This may not even be clear at first as to what you are feeling or why and I can support you in the process of exploring this, with compassion, patience and care. I will support you from the start and right up until the end of our work together.

I am trained in a variety of evidence-based modalities including person-centred, compassion-focussed, EMDR, Attachment, family and Existentialism. I always hold a trauma-informed lens and work pluralistically, meaning that I have the experience and the flexibility to use a therapy approach that best suits you. We can discuss this in the early phase when we first meet and start to plan the care that you would like to receive in support of your mental health and wellbeing.

My specialities include working with maternal and perinatal mental health and trauma. I also support those struggling with anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, bereavement including all different forms of pregnancy and baby loss. Pregnancy alone can bring so many changes and this understandably has impacts upon how day to day life may feel. In the short term but also in the long term. Becoming a mum can also impact upon your sense of identity too, and maybe this does not align with who you once felt you were or who you wanted to be. This may even feel like a loss of some form in itself. A therapeutic space together can help give voice to these feelings, bringing meaning to them and helping to integrate any changes with who you are as a person too. I can also support you with existential concerns such as feelings of isolation, meaninglessness, death awareness and freedom. This list is not exhaustive and so please do reach out to me and we can discuss other concerns that I can support you with also

I provide in-person and online therapy and can be contacted by email.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
