About me
There are times in life, often around midlife though not exclusively, when the world you’ve carefully built starts to feel unfamiliar. You may sense questions rising that you don’t yet have the language for.
It doesn’t always arrive as a crisis. Sometimes it’s a quieter shift; a dullness you can’t shake, a hollow feeling, or a subtle awareness that something inside you wants to change, even if you can’t pinpoint what.
This feeling might follow a clear event such as the end of a relationship, losing a job, bereavement, menopause or perimenopause, health worries, caring for aging parents, or a career that no longer fits. Or it may come with no obvious cause at all.
You might notice anxiety creeping in, a low mood that lingers, a sense of overwhelm, or the unsettling feeling that you’ve drifted away from who you are.
I’m Deb, a psychodynamic counsellor based in central Leicester, Melton Mowbray and online and I work with people who find themselves in exactly these moments of transition and uncertainty. We move at a pace that feels right for you - but we explore what lies beneath the surface.
How I Work
My style is warm, open, and free of judgement. I aim to offer a space where every part of you is welcome, including the parts you’ve learned to hide. Grounded in psychodynamic thinking, our work gently uncovers how earlier experiences and long‑standing patterns may be shaping what you’re facing today.
What Therapy Can Offer
- A sense of relief from carrying everything alone
- Insight into confusing or recurring emotional patterns
- More compassion and acceptance toward yourself
- Greater ease and authenticity in relationships
- Permission to take up space in your own life
If something in this speaks to you, please reach out to me. I’d be glad to connect with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified and insured Psychodynamic Therapist, and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I am also a level 6 Qualified Careers Advisor. Although I'm not currently offering Careers Advice sessions, my work can include looking at career changes as part of our exploration.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
