About me

I help all kinds of people with all kinds of issues and you should never think that what you're feeling is unworthy of therapy.

I’m passionate about helping people overcome their problems and achieve the change they are looking for in their lives. I never judge clients but I’m also not afraid, when it’s in their interest, to challenge them. Each client teaches me something new about therapy and life in general. For me, therapy is very much a partnership – a road along which both I and my clients travel.

I’m fascinated by people and how life affects their mental health in different ways. I worked from an integrative perspective and adapt my approach based on the client and their issues. I have experience across a broad range of mental health issues. Much of this experience I’ve picked up during my 18 years in the health psychology and medical industry.

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Getting Started

I mainly work with clients face-to-face from a private studio at my home.  I can also work with clients via video or phone if preferred.  The easiest way to get started is to give me a call on 07716642575 or send me an email to darren@ponzocounselling.co.uk

During the initial session together we will discuss your issues at your own speed and then if you feel comfortable working with me, we will arrange a second session.  There is never any pressure to sign up for a set number of sessions and we can tailor the frequency of sessions to your needs and schedule.

All sessions last 1 hour.
