About me

Life certainly has ups and downs and the downs can be hard to navigate alone. Perhaps you don't feel right, your relationships might be suffering, you may feel exhausted from trying to maintain a positive side. Maybe you keep doing the same things over and over but cannot seem to break the cycle. Counselling gives you the valuable space and time to find your way in a supported and non-judgmental environment. In addition to my Gestalt training, focusing on creativity and the body (when our brain feels overwhelmed), I recently trained in EMDR to help unblock stuckness derived from many types of trauma.

I work with clients with various challenges including; stress, anxiety, self-esteem/confidence, menopause, trauma, anger, relationship/work issues, depression and bereavement (loss).

It can be difficult to decide on a counsellor that best suits you and your situation but it's also really important. So, I offer a 30 minute, free-of-charge, no-obligation session where we can find out more about each other, find out what might work best for you and offer any advice. I'd love to help you start the personal process which has brought you here.

I'm trained in Gestalt (talking) Therapy which means I like to work outside of 'just thinking' where possible and appropriate. This means using creative materials and/or the body and not just the brain (which can cause us to suffer from overthinking). If this sounds like something you'd really want to avoid, then this might be just the solution for you as you might be stuck in your thinking

A treatment plan is as unique as the people I work with. Having recently worked with the NHS on a 6 session model, short term results can be really beneficial while for other clients, a longer-term relationship is more suitable for them

My counselling journey follows a 23-year career in research, marketing, leadership and management. Counselling complements my Executive Coaching qualifications and experience of workplace challenges.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Accredited Member of the BACP: British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have been training since 2012, following a career in Marketing and Talent Development, including coaching.

As part of my Accreditation, I have to complete a minimum of 30 hours of Training a year and this will be to support a range of specialist topics including domestic abuse, trauma, anger, stress, addiction and pain.

Significant (more than 5 days) training in recent years have included:

  • Certificate: Executive Coaching and Mentoring, Institute of Learning Management 2017

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
