About me

My name is Collette and I am a qualified psychotherapist having undertaken 8 years of clinical training and ongoing professional development.

I am accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) who are the regulatory body for psychotherapists.

I offer individual psychotherapy to young people aged 11+ and adults. I have my own therapy room in Bearsted for in person sessions and I also offer online and telephone therapy.

Psychotherapy is a talking therapy which supports you to explore your concerns, thoughts and feelings in a safe place. You do not need to be in a crisis to benefit from therapy. Clients come for a number of reasons including feelings of anxiety or depression, work-related worries, relationship difficulties, stress, trauma, eating problems, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, loss and bereavement and more.

Each session lasts 50 minutes and most clients start off by coming weekly with some reducing to fortnightly or monthly in time. For some clients a short term feel sufficient (approx. 8 weeks) whereas other clients benefit from longer term therapy.

One of the most important factors for effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship. It is important that you feel I am someone you are able to work with. I therefore offer an initial telephone call so you can find out a bit more about how I work and how therapy may work for you.

Therapy isn't just for difficult times, it can also support you to increase your self-awareness and identity and empower you to create the life that you want. I strive to bring warmth, compassion and empathy to my role and feel privileded that clients entrust me with their stories and experiences.

Training, qualifications & experience

I undertook a degree in psychology at the University of Southampton. After this I spent a number of years working in learning and development roles supporting people with their professional development.

I trained as a psychotherapist at the University of Kent where the training was intense and rigorous. This clinical training led me to qualifying as a psychotherapist and to being accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I have experience of working one-to-one with young people and adults and also with groups. I have a thriving private practice and have also delivered psychotherapy within organisations, particularly in health and education.

I am experienced in supporting clients with many issues including relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, trauma, self-harm, anxiety and depression, work-related stress, life transitions and self-identity issues. I am also experienced with working with neurodiversity including clients who already have a diagnosis or are exploring a diagnosis for autism and/or ADHD. I am passionate about empowering women and raising awareness of men's mental health.
