NCPS Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor

About me

Hi, I'm Chris, I'm a bit of a nerd who is into books, gaming, movies and TV shows. Being a therapist isn't just my job, it's something I genuinely love doing because I am hugely curious about people. I get to have the chance to meet others, learning more about them and what it is they are experiencing in their lives. I realised I had a true interest in people when I was younger, having the opportunity to travel and meet people from different walks of life, cultures and spiritualities.

I spend a lot of my time trying to learn and understand things, whether it's a new game, philosophical concept or how something works. As you can imagine, that can be really helpful in my role as a therapist because it's about me getting to know and understand you so that we can figure out how best to support you through what it is you are experiencing at the moment.

Therapy is a space to explore experiences and find ways to live through them with the bonus of someone by your side being there for you during that time. I approach each person as individual and explore their experiences and challenges through the lens of their relationships, embodied experiences (including long term and acquired health conditions), where there is meaning and purpose in life and finally, what it means to be an individual with agency and free will in a world that can stifle that.  I recognise that different therapy models can give excellent insights to different aspects of you, so I use a few of them together, in a pluralistic way, to give us both a fully rounded understanding of yourself and your experiences.

While I can support you through situations and processing experiences which you have had, my primary area of focus is around identity and authenticity. What is it like to be you? Who are you and how did you become who you are? How do you understand and relate to others, the world and yourself? What is your purpose and drive? So while we look at how you can manage the here and now situations you are experiencing, we can also explore the whys, whats and hows of those situations, giving you a deeper understanding so that you can experience long lasting change and have lifelong tools to manage situations and experiences which come your way.

I am currently gaining my qualification in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy meaning that I am continuing to expand my professional knowledge and learning in all aspects of authenticity and identity, including the various challenges which might come up within all aspects of our sexual, erotic and relational selves.
