About me
Hi, I’m Chris — a warm, experienced, and down-to-earth therapist providing online counselling for adults, couples, young people, and children, alongside training services for individuals and organisations.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, therapy can offer a safe and supportive space to understand yourself more deeply and begin making meaningful changes.
I support clients experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, health anxiety, stress, low self-confidence, depression, loneliness, trauma, PTSD, phobias, anger, relationship difficulties, affairs and betrayals, bullying, and the emotional impact of major life changes. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including those exploring ADHD, autism, and wider experiences of neurodiversity.
I have particular experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients and those questioning or exploring their gender identity. I offer an inclusive, affirming, and non-judgemental space where people can explore identity, belonging, relationships, self-expression, and the challenges that can sometimes come with navigating these experiences.
I also have a deep understanding of the many different ways people experience relationships, intimacy, and connection. I recognise that relationships are unique and personal, and I provide a respectful space for clients exploring a range of relationship dynamics, including monogamous relationships, open relationships, polyamory, same-sex relationships, and other consensual relationship structures.
Whether you are exploring communication, trust, intimacy, jealousy, boundaries, betrayal, relationship changes, sexuality, identity, or patterns within relationships, I believe therapy can help you develop greater self-awareness and create healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
My systemic training has shaped the way I understand people within the wider context of their relationships, families, communities, and life experiences. I recognise that difficulties rarely exist in isolation, and exploring the connections between our experiences and our environment can be an important part of creating meaningful change.
My Approach
I work in an integrative way, drawing on approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, and other evidence-based methods. This allows our work to be tailored to you as an individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
I believe therapy works best as a genuine collaboration. I will not tell you who you should be or what choices you should make, but I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and patterns so you can develop greater understanding, confidence, and emotional resilience.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I have experience as a lecturer on a Level 4 counselling course, supporting trainee counsellors in their professional development. I am also open to providing training, workshops, and speaking events around areas including mental health awareness, emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed practice, inclusive approaches, and supporting young people.
Online Counselling
I offer online counselling sessions via Zoom or telephone, allowing you to access support wherever you are in the UK. Online therapy can provide flexibility, privacy, and comfort, particularly for those with busy lives or who prefer accessing support from their own environment.
I offer both short-term counselling for focused concerns such as anxiety, stress, confidence, or life transitions, as well as longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and personal growth.
Supporting Young People
I have extensive experience supporting children and young people across a range of educational and therapeutic settings, including mainstream schools, pupil referral units, colleges, boarding schools, and specialist settings supporting children with additional needs.
I have also worked with specialist organisations providing trauma-focused support for children and young people who have experienced sexual trauma and abuse. These experiences have developed my understanding of trauma responses, safeguarding, emotional regulation, and the importance of creating a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship.
Taking the First Step
Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and finding the right fit matters. I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation online or by phone, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, talk through what you are looking for, and decide whether we feel like a good match.
You do not have to face things alone. With the right support, it is possible to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build confidence, and create positive change.
Training, qualifications & experience
Throughout my career, I have supported children, young people, adults, and families across a wide range of settings, giving me experience of working with people from many different backgrounds and with varied emotional needs.
My professional experience includes working as a school counsellor across mainstream schools, pupil referral units, state colleges, a boarding school, and specialist educational settings supporting children with learning differences and diverse needs. I have also worked with specialist organisations providing trauma-focused therapeutic support for children and young people who have experienced sexual trauma and abuse.
These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the impact that difficult life experiences, trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, bullying, identity struggles, family difficulties, and emotional overwhelm can have on a person’s wellbeing. I have supported individuals through some of the most challenging periods of their lives, helping them to feel understood, develop emotional safety, build resilience, and reconnect with their sense of self-worth.
My work within education and specialist therapeutic settings has also provided me with extensive experience of safeguarding, multi-agency working, and supporting individuals where safety, trust, and wellbeing are central. I understand the importance of creating a therapeutic relationship where people feel respected, listened to, and able to explore their experiences at their own pace.
I have a particular interest and experience in supporting LGBTQ+ clients and those exploring their gender identity. I aim to provide an inclusive, affirming, and accepting space where people can explore identity, relationships, belonging, and self-expression without fear of judgement.
My experience within specialist education settings has also developed my understanding of neurodiversity and the different ways individuals experience and navigate the world. I support neurodivergent clients, including those exploring ADHD, autism, and wider experiences of neurodiversity, recognising that people often need to be understood rather than changed.
My training in systemic approaches has also shaped the way I understand people within the wider context of their relationships, families, communities, and life experiences. I recognise that our struggles rarely exist in isolation, and exploring the connections between our experiences and our environment can be an important part of creating meaningful change.
I also have a particular interest in supporting men’s mental health, recognising that many men can find it difficult to express emotions, seek support, or talk openly about their struggles. I offer a space where men can explore anxiety, stress, confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and life challenges without pressure or judgement.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I have experience as a lecturer on a Level 4 counselling course, supporting trainee counsellors in their professional development. I also hold a Level 3 Certificate in Training and Education, and I enjoy sharing knowledge, encouraging reflective practice, and supporting the growth of others within the counselling profession.
I am open to providing training, workshops, and speaking events for organisations and professional groups on topics including mental health awareness, emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed practice, inclusive counselling approaches, and supporting young people.
Above all, I believe therapy is about creating a genuine human connection. Everyone deserves to be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect. My aim is to provide a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported while exploring their experiences, recognising their strengths, and moving towards positive change.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
