About me

I am Cat, an Integrative Psychotherapist working with individuals integratively and psychodynamically. We can work together on a short- or long-term basis, depending on your specific needs and circumstances.

I have over 9 years’ experience working in mental health across NHS and charitable settings, supporting people affected by childhood abuse, domestic violence, trauma, personality disorders, complex grief, and other difficult life experiences.

At the heart of my work is the belief that psychological safety, choice and autonomy are fundamental to therapy. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, collaborative, compassionate and culturally aware. I believe that a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship can create the conditions for you to feel seen, understood and accepted as your authentic self. I bring empathy, warmth, openness and presence to our work, while recognising that you are the expert in your own experience.

I welcome people from all walks of life who may feel ‘stuck’, overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure how to make sense of difficult experiences. You may be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma or life transitions, or simply feel that something needs to change.

I recognise that each person’s experiences, needs and cultural background are unique. As someone from a multicultural background, I value curiosity, flexibility and a willingness to understand your experience from your perspective. I will adapt our work to suit you and move at a pace that feels comfortable. Where appropriate, I may also offer different perspectives to help you explore your experiences in new ways.

My aim is to provide a non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported as we make sense of what you are going through and explore meaningful ways forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
