About me

Hello, my name's Carolyn,

Are you looking for someone warm, understanding, knowledgeable, skilled and professional but also straight-talking to support you through a difficult time, gain some insight or to guide you towards living your best possible life?

I work with clients on issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and family issues, health concerns, bereavement, grief and loss, trauma - both past and present,  low self-esteem/confidence, or simply the sense that something inside isn’t quite right and you're not living the life you could or should be.  Whatever brings you here, finding the right therapist really can make a world of difference to your mental and physical health and well-being.

Would you prefer a therapist to offer insight, gently challenge your thoughts and beliefs and to work collaboratively with you to find the best version of yourself? I am not the type of therapist that simply sits, smiles and nods (although I obviously do all of those things on occasions). As a result, my clients begin to feel better and notice real, lasting change fairly quickly.

My work is shaped by a lifetime of personal and professional experiences and grounded in training to degree level and beyond. Personally, I have experienced all the issues mentioned above, I know how rough it can feel. As a result, I offer a calm, confidential space where you can be heard without judgment and met with genuine empathy.

I will help you to:

  • explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours
  • gain insight
  • develop a better understanding of your relationships
  • consider how the past might be continuing to affect the present
  • unlearn old patterns and relearn more beneficial ones
  • experiment with new ways of responding and apply these outside of sessions
  • practice self compassion and be fully yourself

I am trained and work integratively,  which simply means I draw from several therapeutic approaches to tailor our sessions to you as an individual. There’s no fixed method you have to fit; instead, we work together to find what supports you best.

You don’t have to manage everything on your own. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply not yourself, support is closer than it feels.

To make the first step easier, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation so we can meet, explore what’s troubling you, and see whether we feel like a good fit.

If you’d like to know more or have any questions, please get in touch by message or email. I’m here to help when you’re ready.

If you are waiting for a response via email, please check your junk folders as messages often end up there.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
