About me

If you’d like to understand yourself better, make a change, feel more at ease with yourself or get support through a transition, I can help.  I firmly believe that you write your own life story. But it can feel hard to face things alone or make sense of the challenges life can present. For me, the most rewarding part of what I do is seeing someone grow. I'm curious, human, professional and compassionate. I offer a free 20-minute chat if you'd like to understand more about how I work and to get a feel for whether I would be right for you.

I support clients with a range of issues such as anxiety (including panic attacks, generalised anxiety disorder and social anxiety); stress (including work-related stress); depression and feeling sad; loneliness; low self-esteem and low self-confidence; relationship challenges such as difficulties with partners, friends or families, affairs and betrayals, separation and divorce; attachment difficulties; bereavement, grief and loss; LGBTQ+ issues such as gender and sexuality questioning or experiences of discrimination. I have a particular experience in working with people who are experiencing a transition period in their life, whether that's children leaving home, menopause, coming out, a relationship breakdown, a bereavement, changing career or city, retirement or something else. These transition periods can bring up a range of emotions that can feel overwhelming and bewildering. I can help you understand yourself better and make sense of your changing landscape.

Perhaps you have been thinking for a little while that it would be good to talk to someone in a confidential and safe space.  We can all have times when we struggle -  counselling does not need to be a last resort.

I spent most of my adult life as a Solicitor in London. It was through therapy that I got to know a more authentic version of myself. My relationships with others got better, I set firmer boundaries and made choices in life more aligned with my hopes, dreams and values. I appreciate how hard it can be to talk about challenging feelings and open up with someone new. It is important to me that I do everything I can to help clients feel supported and safe.

My private practice is in Trafford and I also see clients via Zoom or by phone. I offer walk-and-talk therapy in the Manchester and Trafford areas (Spring to Autumn only). Please contact me for details about the measures I take to ensure in-person sessions are secure in terms of Covid-19.

I appreciate taking the first step and making contact with a counsellor can be daunting.  It’s natural to feel uncomfortable or hesitant.  You may have additional questions and I am happy to have a chat with you and there is no charge for this.

🏳️‍🌈 I am an LGBTQ+ affirmative, sex and fat positive counsellor.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
