Counselling & Psychotherapy MBACP

About me

It can feel very overwhelming sifting through a sea of counselling profiles trying to find the right person, and starting therapy can feel daunting. Which is why I would like to make that process less stressful for you.

I aim to offer a calm, inclusive environment where you can think and feel without having to manage how you come across. You can laugh, cry, swear, vent, sit in silence, or not even know where to start. The space is yours to process whatever you need in whatever way feels right for you. From there, we can start building a relationship where you feel safe enough to be yourself.

You may have spent years adapting, masking, people-pleasing or trying to be who you think you're supposed to be. Therapy can be a place to pause and ask: Who am I underneath all of that? It can also be an invaluable place to experience new ways of being and bring about change that previously felt impossible.

I have a particular interest in working with people who are neurodivergent, those who are navigating parenthood and perimenopause/menopause, those that have experienced sexual abuse, and those who are questioning or exploring their identity. I have also worked a lot with young adults. People come to me with a wide range of experiences. You might be feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood, navigating a life transition such as bereavement, menopause, children leaving home, changing jobs, divorce, fertility, baby loss or a difficult relationship. You may feel that something isn't quite right and want some space to understand what's going on. You may not even know what is wrong, and that's ok too. Don't worry if you struggle to find the right words too, we can take things at your pace or try a creative intervention to express things in a different way.

As someone who was late diagnosed Neurodivergent, I really understand the importance of being seen and understood. Finding someone you feel comfortable with is the first step, which is why I offer a free 20-minute call so that you can see if I might be the right person to support you.

I'm an Integrative, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, which basically means I draw on a range of tools, theories and ways of working to suit your needs. My practice is LGBTQIA+-affirmative and inclusive of diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences.

I work in a trauma-informed way, which means we'll move at a pace that feels safe for you. I'll pay attention not only to what you want to talk about, but also to how your body and nervous system are responding throughout the process. I take a holistic mind-body approach to therapy, recognising that our experiences aren't just held in our thoughts, they can show up in our bodies too. I also believe every client has individual needs, so I will adjust and adapt to suit your needs.

I have experience in supporting clients through a wide range of issues such as;

Anxiety, Fear, Anger, Depression, Confusion, Neurodiversity (ADHD, OCD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc),  BPD, Bipolar, Emotional Disturbances, Behavioural Issues, Traumatic Experiences, Personal Relationship Issues, Family conflict, Self-Identity, Panic attacks, Fertility, Baby loss, Menopause & Peri Menopause, Emotional Overwhelm, Rejection sensitivity, Abandonment,  Parenting, Spiritual Awakenings, Sexual Issues, Grief and loss, Creative Blocks & many more.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

My experience includes collaborating in research groups on bereavement and conducting my own Master's research on the impact of sexual abuse. Working with the Samaritans has equipped me to support individuals navigating deep trauma.

Having personally benefited from therapy, I consider it one of the most valuable gifts I've given myself. The transformative and empowering nature of therapy inspired me to help others experience similar positive changes.

There are some shallow steps leading up to the hub and a ramp, but it would be tricky with a wheelchair without support.
