About me
Hello, I’m Bushra and welcome to my page.
I am a therapist with over fifteen years’ experience. Helping people from diverse backgrounds explore and understand how they live and find ways that are more satisfying.
I offer long term or short term weekly sessions depending on your needs. Sessions can be in person, online, or a mixture of both. I offer a free online consultation initially upon enquiry. This is to take details of your circumstances and also gives us the opportunity to see whether we can work together.
How counselling can help
During our journey in this life, most of us will be affected by anxiety, depression, stress, loss, bereavement, trauma, amongst many others at some point. Some people will be affected from an early point whilst others much later in life. It can feel very isolating to go through personal emotional struggles and not have anyone to talk to. Someone whom we feel we can trust and not be judged by when sharing our ‘stories’. Someone who can understand what we are going through and be alongside us providing a listening ear.
It takes courage to reach out and I welcome the opportunity to help you on your journey. The benefits of talking therapies cannot be underestimated.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Person-Centred Approach Psychotherapy and Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Over my career, I have worked in a variety of settings including volunteering at a non-profitable charity organisation and alcoholics in recovery reach out centre as well as my private practice.
I adhere to the BACP ethical framework, have regular supervision and focus on continuing personal and professional development - https://www.bacp.co.uk
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
